About Roaming Naturalists

Steve Eshbaugh is a lifelong naturalist and the owner of Roaming Naturalists, LLC. His career in nature education began as a reserve naturalist outside Cincinnati and expanded into roles as an education coordinator in Indiana, a ranger naturalist in Yellowstone National Park, and a professional wildlife guide. Steve holds a bachelor’s degree in botany from the University of Montana and a master’s degree in environmental education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

With decades of field experience—including leading over a dozen trips to Costa Rica, South Africa, and The Maritimes—Steve designs expeditions for inquisitive travelers. Rather than simply pointing out iconic wildlife, he focuses on the deeper connections within ecosystems, from animal behavior to the subtle wonders of local flora. On every trip, Steve’s primary focus is ensuring guests get the absolute best views, insights, and photographic opportunities possible.
